India on Thursday suspended Indian visa services 'till further notice'. This came amid the growing tensions between India and Canada after the latter linked Indian agents to the killing of the Khalistan Tiger Force chief and in retaliation dismissed New Delhi's intelligence chief in Ottawa.

"Due to operational reasons, with effect from 21 September 2023, Indian visa services have been suspended till further notice. Please keep checking BLS website for further updates," India Visa Application Center Canada said.

This comes as India-Canada ties continue to worsen after PM Justin Trudeau's allegations of a "potential" involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June this year.

However, India rejected all allegations and termed it as "absurd" and "motivated" and expelled a senior Canadian diplomat in a tit-for-tat move to Ottawa's expulsion of an Indian official over the case.

An advisory was also issued by the Indian government on Wednesday asking all its citizens living in Canada and those contemplating travelling there to exercise "utmost caution" in view of growing anti-India activities and "politically-condoned" hate crimes in the North American country, as the diplomatic row over the killing of a Khalistani separatist leader threatened to snowball into a major confrontation.

Meanwhile, Canada on Thursday rejected the advisory saying it is one of the safest countries in the world and called for calm amid the escalating diplomatic row between the two nations over the killing of a Khalistani separatist leader in this country.
