Amid tensions between India-Canada over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Indian officials said that the country's authorities have several times raised the issue of deportation of wanted terrorists and gangsters during multiple diplomatic and security talks with Canada, but the Justin Trudeau government has remained non-committal and continued to show support terror elements.

They said that at least nine separatist organisations supporting terror groups have their bases in Canada and Ottawa has only shown inaction against those involved in heinous crimes, including the killing of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, reported news agency PTI.

Pro-Khalistani outfits such as the World Sikh Organization (WSO), Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) and Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), working at the behest of Pakistan, have been operating freely from the Canadian soil, officials alleged.

They also said that allegations on the Indian government by the Canadian authorities are incorrect and based on unsubstantiated assumptions.

Adding that in the past multiple dossiers have been handed over to the Canadian side but India's deportation requests have gone unaddressed. The Indian authorities claimed that eight individuals involved in terror activities and as many gangsters, who have been conspiring with Pakistan's spy agency ISI, have been sheltered in Canada.

They said that the deportation requests for these people including Gurwant Singh, Gurpreet Singh who have been involved in terror cases have been pending with the Canadian government.

According to officials they have not received any response even after providing evidence against Satinderjit Singh Brar alias Goldy Brar, who took responsibility for killing of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala.

Other Canada-based wanted terrorists include Gurwant Singh Bath of the Dashmesh regiment of Khalistan, Bhagat Singh Brar (who is son of Pakistan-based terrorist Lakhbeer Singh Rhode), Moninder Singh Bual, Satinder Pal Singh Gill, they said.

Alleging that Canada's current diplomatic standoff with India is motivated by failures on the domestic political front and declining popularity of the present government, they said that it is aimed at getting support of the Sikh population especially those harbouring pro-Khalistan sentiments.

They pointed out that support for extremist elements and gangsters in Canada are deeply linked with the political realities that influence the vote bank in various Sikh dominated constituencies.
