IndiGo is set to launch daily direct flights between Mumbai and Madinah starting November 15, marking a significant expansion in its international network. The airline will deploy its Airbus A320 aircraft for this new route, with bookings now open across its official website, mobile app, and authorised travel platforms.

IndiGo operates Hyderabad-Madinah flights four times a week. The daily services will now begin from November 16.

IndiGo operates more than 150 flights to Saudi Arabia cities, including Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, and Madinah from India.

Currently, IndiGo stands as the only Indian airline offering direct flights to Madinah. The city holds special significance for pilgrims, especially during the Hajj season, when many travel there to pray at the Prophet's Mosque.

In another, unrelated update, a fire broke out on board an IndiGo aircraft at Delhi airport on Sunday after a passenger’s power bank caught fire while the plane was taxiing for take-off to Dimapur, Nagaland. The crew acted immediately to extinguish the flames, ensuring the safety of all passengers and preventing any injuries.

The incident occurred on IndiGo flight 6E 2107, which had just begun taxiing when smoke was noticed. According to the airline, the fire originated from a personal electronic device kept inside a seat-back pocket.
