A viral video from the MGM Medical College campus, one of Indore's major government medical institutions, has highlighted alleged gaps in patient support services at hospitals. The footage shows a couple struggling to move their ailing child on a stretcher between hospitals under harsh sunlight, drawing widespread attention on social media.

Reportedly, the child identified as 12-year-old Adarsh was suffering from a spinal ailment and was admitted to the orthopaedics department of the MY Hospital. On Saturday, doctors recommended him to a super-speciality hospital. However, without the assistance of the hospital attendants, parents were reportedly seen carrying their child by themselves, as there was no provision of stretchers.

In one of the heart-wrenching sequences, it was seen that both parents were walking for almost a kilometre along with their child on a stretcher. The mother reportedly tied a wet scarf to the child to protect him from the summer heat. 

However, on reaching the super-speciality hospital, they were told that admission was not needed. They were informed that only medical reports needed to be verified, and that they had to return to MY Hospital.

The incident has led to serious questions being raised about the patient transportation service, and it shows that there is a lack of proper medical attendants at these institutions. It has also revealed how poor the management systems are in the MGM Medical College hospitals, which has provided an outsourced agency, BVG, to manage stretcher and wheelchair support service for their patient. 

The BVG agency had been given contracts for most of the government medical college institutions in the state. However, despite having deployed people to handle the service for their patients, they are seen failing on the same.

The BVG agency has also faced a complaint regarding negligence before and recently due to a wine carton found in a car in the parking of a super-speciality hospital, and this year, there were some complaints of the administrative system and security in the state-owned super-speciality medical college institution with the agency. The company was penalised for the complaints at a few other medical institutions in the state.

The hospital officials were informed about the viral video of the incident and said that an inquiry into this matter has been conducted by the hospital administration. Appropriate action would be taken based on the enquiry reports.
