Indore Couple Missing Case: A local tourist guide on Sunday informed Meghalaya police that the missing honeymoon couple was seen with three other men on May 23, the same day the couple from Indore had gone missing. Albert Pde, the local guide, told police that the unknown men accompanied Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam, the missing couple, when they were trekking from Nongriat to Mawlakhiat. However, the guide further claimed that he could not understand their conversation due to the language barrier.
“The four men were walking ahead while the woman was behind. The four men were conversing in Hindi, but I could not understand what they were speaking as I know only Khasi and English,” Pde was quoted as saying by PTI. The guide stated that he had met the couple a day earlier on May 22, adding that they had hired another local guide for their journey.
Pde added that their rented scooter was missing from the parking area when he visited them the next morning. The police stated that the guide's statement has been recorded, adding that the search for Jyoti is ongoing, reported the Hindustan Times.
Earlier on June 2, the Meghalaya police recovered Raja's body from a deep gorge and the absconding scooter from Sohrarim. The police stated that the search for Sonam is still ongoing; however, her brother claimed that the police are not trying enough to find his missing sister. “We strongly believe Sonam is alive. They are searching for her like she is dead,” Sonam's brother Govind was quoted as saying by PTI.

Earlier on June 5, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma stated that the state police are trying their best to find Sonam, adding that those responsible for the act will not be spared. "We will leave no stone unturned to make sure that those responsible for this incident are brought to book," Sangma told reporters.
