Just before the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) on June 21, a major racket involving the alleged sale of question papers was busted in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. Acting on information from intelligence agencies, the Crime Branch and Special Investigation Team (SIT) conducted an operation and arrested a man. A search of the accused's mobile phone revealed that the alleged NEET question paper was created using ChatGPT.
Accused Contacted Over 200 Students, Extored Money
According to the police, the accused was luring students through social media platforms by promising to provide authentic NEET papers. Investigations have revealed that he contacted more than 200 students across India and extorted money from them.
According to Jagran sources, Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh alerted cyber experts and the intelligence wing three days before the exam. During social media monitoring, information was received that a young man named Akshay Malviya, a resident of the Lasudia area, was claiming to be selling NEET papers through Instagram. Following this, the cyber team gathered account information from Meta and detained the accused in the Samarth Aangan, Shakkarkhedi area.

As per the police, the question papers found on his mobile phone were created using ChatGPT. The accused has also admitted to receiving money from students through online payment methods. Akshay claims to be a law student, while his father is an advocate by profession. The Crime Branch has registered a case against the accused under various sections of the Information Technology Act and fraud, including the Information Technology Act.
Since the case involved a national-level examination, the police kept the entire operation under strict secrecy. According to Jagran sources, after taking the accused into custody, he was not taken directly to the police station but was instead kept at a farmhouse on Khandwa Road.
Police officers and staff were assigned special duty there. After the examination concluded, the accused was brought to the Crime Branch office, and a formal case was registered.
Accused Made Reel Claiming To Provide NEET Question Paper
Investigating agencies first gained leads from the accused's social media activities. His reel, claiming to provide the NEET question paper, reportedly reached various agencies. Subsequently, the IB, Intelligence, ATS, and Special Task Force (STF) also shared input. Following a confidential investigation, the accused was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon, and the entire process was kept secret to prevent the exam from being disrupted. Police officials are expected to officially disclose the case on Monday.
