Former MLA and Haryana INLD president, Nafe Singh Rathee, was shot dead in Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar district, on Sunday. The convoy of Rathi came under attack by car-borne assailants while en route from Barahi village to Bahadurgarh.
The attackers, traveling in an I-20 car, opened fire on Nafe Singh Rathee and his security personnel. The attack resulted in serious injuries to Rathee and others, who were immediately rushed to the Brahma Shakti Hospital in the city for medical treatment.

Upon arrival at the hospital, Rathee and one other security personnel Jaikishan were declared dead, while two others were severely injured and are currently admitted to ICU.
"In the evening, four people who had been shot were brought to Brahma Shakti Sanjeevani Hospital. Out of them, two had suffered heavy bleeding and were brought dead, still, we tried CPR but they couldn't be saved. Two others are admitted to the ICU with gunshot wounds on the shoulder, thigh, and left side of the chest... Former MLA Nafe Singh and another person Jaikishan were brought dead," Dr Manish Sharma at Brahma Shakti Sanjeevani Hospital said.
Jhajjar SP Arpit Jain said CIA and STF teams are investigating the incident and assured that the accused will be arrested soon. "We received information regarding an incident of firing. CIA and STF teams are working. The accused will be arrested soon," he said.
The assailants targeted Rathi in Bahadurgarh, near the railway gate on the Sankhol Barahi road. Law enforcement authorities investigating the scene recovered 18 bullet shells from the crime scene.
Earlier in January 2023, the Haryana Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Nafe Singh Rathee and five others in connection to the purported suicide of local BJP leader Jagdish Numberdar, the son of former minister Mange Ram Numberdar.
The FIR was registered under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) following a complaint lodged by the deceased's son.
