The Delhi police issued directions to hotels, guest houses, restaurants and petrol pumps in Aerocity to install enough CCTV cameras to cover at least a 50-metre radius outside their premises for proper surveillance in the area. The direction was issued as Independence Day nears. Police, in their notification, also asked the establishment to store the CCTV footage for at least 90 days.

The order, which was released on 3rd of July mandated the implementation of the guideline by July 5. ACP Vir Krishan Pal Singh (sub-division, Palam, IGI, airport), issuing the order, said that if anyone is found contravening the order, they will be liable to be punished per the provisions of Section 223(a).  Section 223 (a) in Bhartiya Nayay Sanhita (BNS) refers to the disobedience of any order by a public servant.
