Delhi has long been a target for terrorists, with ISI agents actively transferring information to Pakistan. Following Operation Sindoor, the police and security agencies have heightened their vigilance to track down such agents.

According to Special Cell officials, quoted by Jagran.com, tracking down ISI agents is particularly challenging as they often exploit family ties to blend in with Delhi NCR. They establish connections with locals, gain their trust, and obtain SIM cards to communicate with their allies in Pakistan through encrypted social media platforms to avoid detection. Once the communication is established, the agents typically discard the SIM cards.

These ISI agents remain inactive until they receive a signal from their handlers, often through encrypted messages or codes via various apps and games. These agents are often unaware of the masterminds behind their tasks. The ISI targets tech-savvy individuals with spotless records to avoid raising suspicions and ensure their operatives can evade detection or capture.

State And Centre Join Hands To Track Down Terrorists

The Delhi Police conducts inter-state coordination meetings with police officials from various states regularly, facilitating the exchange of sensitive information. These meetings are also held with central security agencies to collaborate on larger missions and share intelligence input. With multiple central agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Military Intelligence, operating in Delhi, these organisations conduct year-round covert operations to catch terrorists, spies, and agents.

Police Arrested 91 Terrorists In Six Years

This is not the first such operation in Delhi. The Delhi Police's anti-terror unit, Special Cell, has developed expertise in capturing terrorists and agents owing to the assistance it receives from central agencies. According to data from the past six years, the Special Cell has arrested 91 terrorists in operations conducted across the country, including Delhi, the report added.
