The Israeli National Security Council (NSC) has issued a travel advisory for its citizens in India following an explosion near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi on Tuesday night. The incident occurred in the Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave and is suspected to be a possible terror attack.

No injuries were reported in the blast, which occurred around 5:48 pm. The Israeli embassy spokesperson, Guy Nir, stated that Delhi Police and security teams are actively investigating the situation.

In response to concerns about a potential recurrence of events, the NSC's recommendations, particularly focused on New Delhi, advise Israeli nationals to avoid crowded places, especially those frequented by Westerners, Jews, and Israelis. Heightened vigilance is urged in public areas such as restaurants, hotels, and pubs.

Israeli citizens are also cautioned against openly displaying Israeli symbols, attending unsecured large-scale events, and sharing itineraries on social media in real time. The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed no casualties in the explosion and highlighted full cooperation with local authorities in the ongoing investigation.

The blast site, located in a green belt area near the embassy, led a three-hour-long search operation involving Delhi Police's Special Cell, bomb disposal squad, and the fire department. A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) also examined the site.

This incident follows a prior warning from the NSC earlier this month, urging Israelis to reconsider travel abroad and exercise caution in displaying Jewish and Israeli identities due to rising antisemitism worldwide. Security has been reinforced around the Israeli embassy in New Delhi, especially since the recent conflict between Israel and the Hamas militant group.

Delhi Police has identified two suspects after examining the CCTV footage in connection to the blast. The authorities are now actively scanning the visuals to determine the suspects' arrival at the location and the route they took. Police also received a threatening letter written to the Israel Embassy

This isn't the first time the Israeli embassy in New Delhi has faced security threats. In 2021, an explosion occurred outside the embassy, causing damage to cars but no casualties. Additionally, in February 2012, the wife of an Israeli security staff member was injured in an attack on her car in New Delhi. Security officials note heightened security measures around the embassy since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas conflict earlier this year.
