In the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, which has now extended into its fifth day, over 50 students, including Arpita Panda from Odisha, find themselves stranded in Israel. These students had traveled to various Israeli universities for research purposes. The war rages on in Israeli border areas, while other regions remain relatively calm. Despite the relative peace in their area, the students are instructed to remain alert and stay within their residences.

Arpita Panda, daughter of Dr. Ratnakar Panda, former principal of Utkalamani Homeopathic Medical College in Rourkela, has been pursuing chemistry research at Ariel University in the West Bank of Israel for nearly three years.

She had a ticket booked for her return to India on October 16 during the Dussehra holiday. However, due to airline closures until October 14, her return remains uncertain, leaving her caught in the midst of the conflict.

They have reached out to the government for a safe evacuation. Arpita is residing in the West Bank area, which is currently not under direct threat from the conflict.

While the area they reside in is not directly impacted, the students have been advised to remain indoors and have received instructions on seeking shelter in the event of sirens. Practice drills have been conducted to prepare for such situations.

Additionally, students were instructed to stock up on essential food items 72 hours before the conflict began, ensuring they have two weeks' worth of supplies. Basic utilities like water, electricity, and internet continue to function.
