ISRO EOS-N1 Satellite Launch: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to begin its 2026 launch schedule with the PSLV-C62 mission, slated for January 12. During this mission, the Indian space agency will deploy the EOS-N1 earth observation satellite along with 14 other payloads into space. The entire mission is expected to last for more than two hours after liftoff, which is scheduled at 10:17 am on January 12 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. The 25-hour countdown has already begun today.

What Is The EOS-N1 Satellite?

  • The Earth Observation Satellite- N1 (EOS-N1) is an observation satellite built jointly by Thailand and the United Kingdom primarily for the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

  • The satellite will be deployed in a lower Earth orbit and will provide DRDO with clear pictures of different terrains through the use of Hyperspectral imaging. 

  • The main job of the satellite is to help the DRDO keep a close watch on the borders, studying terrain and spotting hidden or camouflaged military equipment.

  • Besides military use, the satellite will also be used for civilian purposes such as checking crop health, planning cities and monitoring environmental changes.

PSLV’s 64th Mission

This will be the 64th mission of PSLV. The Indian launch vehicle has so far completed 63 flights, including the ambitious Chandrayaan-1, Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), and Aditya-L1 mission.
