Andhra Urea Scam: YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday slammed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for the "shortage" in urea supply to farmers. The former Andhra Pradesh chief minister alleged that an artificial scarcity of the fertiliser has resulted in a scam of Rs 200- Rs 250 crore.
Jagan, while addressing a press conference, claimed that state police threatened to register cases against YSRCP leaders who were raising the issue. YSRCP leaders staged a protest against the government on Tuesday, in which they demanded action on the alleged corruption.

Highlighting the significance of the issue, he alleged that farmers are not receiving adequate support prices for their produce in the state, which has driven them to "suicide".
Fertiliser Is Being Diverted To Black Market: Jagan
Jagan alleged that the fertiliser is being diverted to the black market, creating scarcity.
"With the encouragement and involvement of Chandrababu Naidu, its sale in the black market has turned into a scam worth Rs 200–Rs 250 crore. The ill-gotten money is being distributed from the top to the bottom (of the leadership),” he said.

The former chief minister listed out the prices of various commodities to support his claim. He claimed that the previous YSRCP government had always intervened and supported farmers when prices dropped.
Referring to the state government's decision to develop 10 medical colleges under the PPP model, Jagan alleged that government assets were being sold for peanuts by Naidu's administration.
'When our government comes, the number of MBBS seats in the state is 2,360. Through these new medical colleges, seats will increase by another 2,550, reaching 4,910. Finally, with the start of classes, about 800 new seats were filled. How reasonable is it to destroy this wonderful program in medical education? Half the seats in the colleges, which are dedicated to state development and state-of-the-art medicine free, other half seats are available to students at lower fees compared to private seats. Will it be available? I can see the results in my eyes, why are these colleges being destroyed? Due to lack of medical seats here, Saripada wants to see his children become doctors. Parents spend a lot of money and do not have the capacity to find private medical seats here," he highlighted in an X post.
