Under the 'Digikavach' program, Dainik Jagran and Vishvas News, in collaboration with Google, organized a webinar for the senior citizens of Bareilly on Friday. The event was held as part of the campaign, 'Digital Safety for Senior Citizens: Sach Ke Saathi'. During the webinar, senior citizens were informed about the various types of online scams and the methods to protect themselves from them.
The SWES organisation of Bareilly also provided assistance for this program, which was conducted online. Vishvas News's expert highlighted the importance of the program, stating that cybercriminals attempt to trap people using various tactics. The fraudsters target people sometimes through phishing links and sometimes via fake websites. Vigilance is necessary to avoid these threats.
Ashish Maharishi, Associate Editor at Vishvas News, provided detailed information about cyber scams through several examples during the event. He advised people to remain alert to prevent cybercrimes, adding that clicking on any unknown link can potentially send a lifetime's earnings into the accounts of cyber fraudsters.

Meanwhile, Devika Mehta, Deputy Editor at Vishvas News, demonstrated how to create strong passwords for Google and social media accounts. She suggested that using a Passkey is a better approach for this purpose. She also mentioned that accounts can be secured using Two-Factor Authentication. Additionally, she advised against clicking on phishing links that accompany enticing messages.

The expert from Vishvas News explained that fraudsters often pose as insurance or bank agents, gather a user's personal and banking information, and then get a new credit card issued, leading to financial loss. He stressed that to avoid this, one should not share their personal information or OTP with anyone. He added that if any cybercrime occurs, one should immediately report it by calling 1930.
