A workshop titled 'Digital Safety for Senior Citizens: Sach Ke Sathi' was organised on Sunday at Arya Samaj Mandir in Indrapuri, Delhi, under Google’s prestigious “DigiKavach” initiative. The program, held in collaboration with Jagran New Media and Vishvas News, aimed to protect senior citizens from online fraud and scams while raising awareness about preventive measures.

During the session, Vishvas News trainers explained that cybercriminals and online scammers often target senior citizens, and such cases are steadily increasing. Participants were educated on different types of online scams and the steps to prevent them. Experts cautioned that cybercriminals frequently send phishing links with attractive offers—especially during festive seasons—and the safest practice is to avoid clicking on any suspicious links.

The program also emphasised the use of Google Password Manager to create and manage strong passwords securely. Trainers introduced Google Passkey as a simple and safe alternative to traditional passwords, which allows users to log in using a fingerprint, face scan, or screen lock for enhanced protection.

Vishvas News Deputy Editor Devika Mehta highlighted the alarming rise in cybercrime and explained the objectives of Google’s DigiKavach program. She also warned about the growing threat of AI-driven online fraud, noting that several fake videos featuring celebrities are being circulated online to deceive people into investing in fraudulent schemes. These are often AI-generated deepfake videos designed to mislead viewers.

Vishvas News Chief Sub-Editor Pragya Shukla shared practical digital safety tips and guided attendees on how to stay protected while using the internet.

Participants also shared their personal experiences of encountering cybercrime. BM Bhatia, President of the Senior Citizens Forum, Indrapuri, praised the initiative and said such workshops are essential to help senior citizens safeguard themselves from digital fraud.
