Dainik Jagran and Vishvas News, in collaboration with Google, organised a webinar on "Digital Security for Senior Citizens: Sach Ke Sathi" on Wednesday as part of Google’s prestigious “DigiKavach” program. The initiative aimed to provide digital security training to senior citizens from Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram.

The Gurugram webinar was supported by Literacy India and 24x7 Care Foundation, while the Inspiring Seniors Foundation supported the Noida session. During the event, experts from Vishvas News highlighted that cybercriminals are increasingly targeting senior citizens, with such cases rising every year. Trainers guided participants on how to identify and avoid online scams and shared practical tips for securing their Google accounts.

In the Gurugram session, Senior Editor Urvashi Kapoor demonstrated how to create strong passwords using Google Password Manager. She also explained that Google Security Check helps users identify websites where their email addresses or phone numbers may have been compromised, and allows them to unsubscribe from unwanted third-party apps. Meanwhile, Deputy Editor Devika Mehta cautioned that cybercriminals often target people during festivals through phishing links and fake messages, warning participants not to click on such unknown links. Captain Indrani Singh, founder of Literacy India, lauded the effort, saying, “Such events are essential in today's times. This program can help people learn how to avoid scams.”

At the Delhi event, Mehta taught participants how to create strong passwords and explained that “a passkey is also a type of password that requires fingerprints or a face scan.” She elaborated on phishing scams and how to steer clear of them. During the webinar, Deputy Editor Sharad Prakash Asthana discussed investment, job offer, and festive season scams, advising participants to verify any suspicious links before clicking. The Program Manager of 24x7 Care Foundation, speaking at the session, emphasized the importance of awareness campaigns like this and thanked Dainik Jagran for the initiative.

In Noida, another webinar was held for senior citizens, where Devika Mehta used examples and videos to train participants on recognizing scams. The videos urged people to stay vigilant. Chief Sub Editor Pragya Shukla explained key digital security measures and advised attendees to report cybercrimes by calling the national helpline number 1930, filing a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in, or visiting the nearest cyber cell. Speaking at the event, Poonam Sharma, co-founder of Inspiring Seniors Foundation, said, “Vigilance can help prevent such scams,” urging people to remain cautious about suspicious messages.
