In collaboration with Dainik Jagran and Vishvas News, Google organised a webinar for senior citizens of Gurugram and Faridabad under its prestigious 'Digikavach' initiative, as part of the campaign "Digital Safety for Senior Citizens: Sach Ke Saathi". The session was also supported by the Green Pencil Foundation. During the webinar, participants were guided on how to stay safe online and protect themselves from cyber fraud.

Trainers from Vishvas News highlighted that cybercrime has been increasing every year, with senior citizens often being prime targets for cybercriminals. The participants were informed about the various types of online scams and effective ways to avoid them. Experts also warned attendees about fake job scams and fake loan scams.

Kicking off the session, Sharad Asthana, Deputy Editor at Vishvas News, explained the campaign in detail. He shared practical tips on creating strong and secure passwords for email and social media accounts and emphasised the importance of protecting Google accounts from hacking. Asthana advised against using weak passwords, noting that hackers can easily crack them. He suggested that passwords could be created using lines from songs or poems, and that users can also opt for passkeys as a safer alternative.

Urvashi Kapoor, Senior Editor at Vishvas News, provided additional digital safety tips and explained how to remain secure in the online space. She also spoke about the growing threat of AI-driven scams, stating that fraudsters now use AI tools to create deepfake videos to deceive people, luring them into investing money by promising high returns. Kapoor advised participants to pause and double-check whenever someone urges them to transfer money immediately, as this could help prevent fraud. She also shared ways to identify phishing links.

Sandy Khanda, Founder of Green Pencil Foundation, praised the "Digital Safety for Senior Citizens: Sach Ke Saathi" campaign, saying that such initiatives help raise awareness among elderly citizens. He also promised to share the information gained from the session with his acquaintances and community.
