Under Google’s flagship ‘Digikavach’ initiative, Jagran New Media and Vishvas News jointly conducted an online session titled "Digital Safety for Senior Citizens: Sach Ke Sathi". The session was attended by elderly participants associated with the Noble Citizen Foundation. The primary aim of the session was to educate senior citizens about various online frauds and scams, and to equip them with the knowledge and tools to stay protected in the digital world.

During the programme, Abhishek Parashar, Associate Editor of Jagran New Media's Fact Check wing, Vishvas News, explained how cybercriminals often target senior citizens through deceptive online practices. He discussed common forms of cyber fraud such as phishing, investment scams, festive-season offers, and fake job alerts, cautioning participants about the tricks used by scammers to lure victims.

He advised attendees not to click on suspicious links or share personal details hastily. Parashar emphasised the importance of pausing, verifying URLs carefully, and acting only after ensuring authenticity — as even a moment’s carelessness can lead to financial or identity loss.

The session also highlighted the use of Google Password Manager and Google Passkeys for creating strong, secure passwords. Participants were shown how biometric options such as fingerprints, facial scans, or screen locks can provide additional layers of account protection.

Jyoti Kumari, Senior Sub Editor, Vishvas News, spoke about the growing menace of AI-generated deepfake videos. She explained how fraudsters misuse celebrity likenesses to promote fake investment schemes, health products, or gaming apps — deceiving viewers into believing false claims. She advised users to always verify such content through official websites or trusted sources to avoid falling into scam traps.

Speaking at the event, Sahil Kaushar, Co-founder of the Noble Citizen Foundation, emphasised the importance of maintaining strong passwords. He noted that the insights shared during the webinar were not just valuable for senior citizens, but for everyone who uses the internet, helping them stay vigilant against digital fraud.
