Jaipur Truck Fire: The driver of the LPG tanker whose gas leaked after being collided with a truck, survived the explosion that claimed 14 lives and left several injured. Identified as Jaiveer, the driver hailed from Mathura and has also been contacted for questioning.

According to a police officer Manish Kumar, Jaiveer jumped off the truck soon after the collision took place. He then dialed the owner of the tanker and told him about the accident.

Jaipur Fire Accident: Driver Switched Off His Phone

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the case, will question Jaiveer. According to the information received, Jaiveer called the Delhi-based tanker owner Anil Panwar immediately after the accident and then switched off his phone. The police hope to get more information after questioning the driver.

Jaipur Fire Accident: How Did The Accident Happened?

At nearly 5:30 AM on Friday, a Bharat Petroleum tanker, en-route from Ajmer to Jaipur, attempted a U-turn but another truck approaching from the Jaipur side collided with the tanker. The collision led to several vehicles catching fire. People abandoned their vehicles and fled the spot. Many who were unable to flee, got injured, while some also were burnt alive.

Jaipur Fire Accident: Whose Fault It Was?

According to road safety experts, poor road conditions, sudden turns and lack of traffic sense may have caused the accident. The stretch of the Jaipur-Ajmer highway where the accident occurred is an accident-prone spot, so poor traffic management and ongoing construction created a dangerous situation.

Jaipur Fire Accident: PM Modi Shared Condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his condolences to the families of the victims. In a post on X, the Prime Minister's Office expressed grief, stating, "Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the accident on Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected." The PM also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 for the injured.
