Jammu and Kashmir:  Expressing grief over the death of five Indian army soldiers in the Kathua terror attack, Congress MP Manish Tiwari on Tuesday attacked the Modi government over the increase in such incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. This was the 24th terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir in the last 7 months, Tiwari said, adding, "why these attacks are going on."

"It is the 24th terrorist attack in Jammu in the last 7 months, it's sad, our sympathies are with the family of those who lost their lives or were injured. Why these terrorist attacks are going on? I hope that the govt will take strict action and stop the infiltration which is being encouraged by Pakistan from the other side of the border," the senior Congress leader and MP said while speaking with ANI.

Former Deputy CM of Rajasthan and Congress leader Sachin Pilot also lambasted the central government over the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Pilot said that while in parliament government claims that the situation is normal in Jammu and Kashmir, so why terrorist attacks are continuously increasing? He also demanded centre issue clarification on why our soldiers are losing lives in J-K.

"The terrorist attacks are continuously increasing...In Parliament, the government claims that the situation in J&K is normal. But if our soldiers are losing their lives in terrorist attacks, the government will have to give its clarification," Pilot said.

This came days after five army personnel lost their lives in a terrorist ambush in Jammu Kashmir's Kathua. The attack came a day after two Indian army men lost their lives in an encounter in Kulgam.

Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also criticised the central government over the attack. Hitting out at the speeches of the ruling party leaders, he said that the solution to the security situation in J-K will come from strong action, not from hollow speeches.
