In a major anti-terror campaign, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has busted an interstate terror module of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Srinagar. Five individuals, including two Pakistani terrorists have been arrested, officials stated on Tuesday.
According to officials, the operation was part of a major anti-terror crackdown, wherein the police extended their operations beyond the Union Territory, conducting operations in Punjab with the assistance of central agencies. The action was largely based on intelligence inputs and digital intercepts, which revealed the presence of a Lashkar network operation outside J&K. The officials added that further details would be shared once the operation is concluded.
Two Pak Terrorists Arrested
The arrested individuals include Abdullah, alias Abu Hureira, who has been on the run for 16 years. According to officials, he was able to set up bases outside the union territory as well. Another Pakistani terrorist Usman alias Khubaib was also apprehended in this operation.

As part of the operation, investigators carried out searches at 19 locations, including in J&K, Rajasthan and Haryana. They recovered incriminating material. The investigation also revealed a deep-rooted LeT network, primarily involved in providing logistics and financial support to terrorists. Briefing about the probe, officials said among the five caught, three people were residents of Srinagar.
Three Locals Arrested
According to police, Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat, Adil Rashid Bhat and Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Mama were arrested for allegedly providing logistical support, including shelter and food to the terrorists. The investigation also revealed that one foreign terrorist had managed to travel outside the country using forged documents and identity facilitated by the LeT network in other states.
These terrorists had inflicted into India about 16 years ago and were active in various districts of Kashmir. Many of the foreign terrorists handled by them have been killed by security forces over the years.
