Security forces have ramped up operations against terrorists in response to a series of recent attacks. Earlier on October 20, a terrorist attack took place in the Gagangir area of Ganderbal district, when terrorists targeted a workers' camp of an infrastructure project resulting in the deaths of seven individuals.
On October 24, another terrorist attack in the Botapathri area of Gulmarg, Baramulla district, resulted in the deaths of three Army soldiers and two civilian porters when the attackers targeted an Army vehicle. The subsequent attacks on Gagangir and Gulmarg, which claimed the lives of nine civilians and three Army personnel, sparked widespread outrage. O
On November 2, terrorists also threw a grenade at the crowded Sunday Market near the tourist reception centre in Srinagar, further escalating tensions.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police on November 28, attached the properties of seven absconding terrorists currently operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan in the Kishtwar district. As many as 36 terrorists from Kishtwar operating from PoK and Pakistan have been declared absconders, news agency PTI quoted senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Javaid Iqbal as saying.
