"Everyone is directed to go to their house. There is a high red alert in the district. Don't go out in markets or public places," Barmer District Collector Tina Dabi was quoted as saying by ANI.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir and offered him the US assitance to start talks with India amid escalated tension.

The reports suggest that the siren has been sounded in Jalandhar, Bathinda and Amritsar. The officials have reportedly asked the people to limit their outings.

The defence officials stated that the news reports of destruction or damage to an S-400 system are fake and baseless.

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Friday approved two packages worth $2.3 billion, including a new $1.3 billion programme to Pakistan. The global lender approved the $ 1 billion worth second loan tranche of the Extended Fund Facility and sanctioned new $1.3 billion Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). India has abstained from voting on the IMF's proposed bailout package for Pakistan, citing Islamabad’s "poor track record".

An attempt was made to target the BSF camp in Patti town from Pakistan. Around 20-25 explosions occurred in the sky over approximately two and a half minutes. It is said that on the third day of continuous attacks from Pakistan, Tarn Taran district was targeted for the first time. The Indian Army successfully thwarted this attempt to target the BSF camp. Following the attack, Tarn Taran district was completely blacked out.

A blackout was enforced across the Kashmir Valley, including its summer capital here, late Friday evening, and sirens were heard at a few places. The Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday postponed the Pakistan Super League (PSL), hours after announcing that the T20 tournament has been shifted to the UAE because of the ongoing military conflict with India.  "The decision to postpone has been taken pursuant to advice received from the Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif who has kept in view the "reckless aggression" from India that has escalated to a point where national attention and sentiments are rightly focused on the courageous efforts of the Armed Forces of Pakistan who are vociferously upholding the sovereignty of our beloved Pakistan," PCB said in a statement said.

"The PCB and its players stand resolutely in solidarity with the families of the martyrs and our security personnel defending the nation," the statement added further. However it has been learnt that Emirates Cricket Board, which holds a cordial relationship with BCCI, was unlikely to approve the PCB request to host the remainder of the PSL.

In response to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, a high alert was declared across Rajasthan's border districts of Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, and Phalodi on Friday. As a precautionary measure, markets in Jaisalmer and Barmer closed early, at 5 pm, and a complete blackout has been imposed from 6 pm to 6 am.

In Ambala, Haryana, a blackout from 8 pm to 6 am was enforced, while in Panchkula, markets and street lights has been shut down from 7 pm till 6 am.

Delhi: Colonel Sofiya Qureshi says, "On the night of May 7 and 8, the Pakistani army violated Indian airspace several times over the entire western border with the intention of targeting military infrastructure. Not only this, the Pakistani army also fired heavy caliber weapons along the Line of Control. Around 300 to 400 drones were used to attempt infiltration at 36 locations. Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday reviewed the prevailing situation along India's border with Pakistan and airports in the country amid the military conflict between the two countries, sources said. The meeting came hours after the Border Security Force said it has foiled an infiltration bid from across the International Border in Jammu, killing at least seven terrorists and destroying a Pakistan Rangers post.

Apart from reviewing the security situation along the India-Pakistan border, Shah also took stock of the steps taken to beef up security at airports across the country, the sources said. While the BSF guards the India-Pakistan border, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) protects the airports in the country, Metro networks and other vital installations.

Those who attended the meeting included Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, Directors General of the BSF, CISF and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. There has been heightened tension between India and Pakistan following India's strike on multiple locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Wednesday and Pakistan's attempts to hit Indian military sites on Thursday, which were thwarted by the Indian armed forces.

"As per clause 6(1)(p) of the Cable Television Networks (Amendment) Rules, 2021, only periodic briefings by designated officials are permitted during anti-terror operations. All stakeholders are urged to exercise vigilance, sensitivity, and responsibility in coverage, upholding the highest standards in the service of the nation,” it added.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday conducted a review of the country's current security situation at South Block, which houses the Ministry of Defence, in the national capital, in the aftermath of the foiled large-scale drone strike by Pakistan on Thursday.

The Punjab University, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Punjab and the Thapar University have cancelled all scheduled classes in the wake of the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. Thapar University has asked its students to leave the hostel and return home.

The Uttarakhand government has instructed all hospitals in the state to remain on high alert. Leaves of doctors and staff in hospitals have been cancelled. Pakistan attempts to evade responsibility after Thursday's failed drone attack. The Foreign Office of Pakistan says the government rejects the "baseless and irresponsible allegations" of attacks on Pathankot, Jaisalmer and Srinagar. "These claims are entirely unfounded, politically motivated and part of a reckless propaganda campaign aimed at maligning Pakistan," it says.

The Indian Army says Pakistani troops resorted to numerous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir soon after their drone attacks were effectively repulsed. The Indian side gave a befitting reply to the attack.,

Jammu and Kashmir: A vehicle travelling from Razerwani to Baramulla was hit by a shell fired by Pakistan from across the Line Of Control (LoC) near Mohura, news agency IANS reports. A woman, identified as Nargis Begum, was killed while another woman, Hafeeza Begum was injured.

In view of the ongoing blackout in Chandigarh and heightened tensions along the border, the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association has declared May 9, 2025, a 'No Work Day'. The decision was announced through an official notice issued late Thursday night by the association's secretary.

The Indian Army and Air defence units intercepted and neutralised over 50 drones sent by Pakistan across the Line of Control (LoC) and International Borders (IB) on Thursday evening. The Indian side foiled Pakistan's attempt to attack several cities, including Jammu, Akhnoor, Udhampur, Samba, Pathankot, Amritsar and Jaisalmer. India launched a large-scale counter-drone operation, deploying L-70 guns, Zu-23mm, Schilka systems, and other advanced counter-UAS equipment, news agency ANI reports citing sources.

The Amritsar District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) directs all citizens to stay indoors and away from the windows and keep lights turned off and the window curtains drawn. The DPRO assures Amritsar residents that there is no need to panic. "Our armed forces are on the job, and we need to support them by staying indoors. There is no need to panic," it says.

The tension between India and Pakistan last night also affected railway services. The Anand Vihar Terminal–Kotdwar train, which departed on time, reached Kotdwar station at 5:35 AM, delayed by nearly two and a half hours. The delay occurred as the train was halted at Meerut station for approximately three hours. It was eventually cleared to proceed to Kotdwar around 1:45 AM.

There was a blackout in Tarn Taran district of Punjab at night, and electricity was restored at 5:00 AM. The situation remained peaceful in Khemkaran sector, Khalda, Naushera Dhala. 

Fazilka in Punjab was under blackout the whole night amid drone attacks by Pakistan. The electricity was cut off at 9 PM and restored at 6:15 AM. Police patrolling teams went from street to street to ensure lights running on inverters or back up were switched off. No untoward incident of any kind was reported at night in Fazilka district.

The Ministry of Defence posts on X, "Military stations at Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur were targeted by Pakistani-origin drones and missiles along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir today. The threats were swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities in line with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). No casualties or material losses were reported."

The ministry assured the people that India remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people.

Jalandhar Rural DSP Vijay Kumar says, "We received information that the people had heard some noise. We came here but found nothing. We request that people stay away from rumours. Dont touch anything that may seem suspicious and inform the police about it. We request that people stay inside their homes and not panic; our army is capable of everything."

As India intercepts Pakistani drones above several cities across the nation, a high alert has been sounded in New Delhi. The Delhi Police vacates India Gate premises and asks revelers to leave the area.   

A Pakistani Air Force jet has been shot down in the Pathankot sector by Indian air defence, news agency ANI reports citing multiple sources. Official government confirmation awaited.

Delhi cancels leave of all government employees till further orders. No leave will be granted to any official of Delhi government, said an order issued late evening by the Services Department of the government.

Haryana cancels leaves of state police personnel and those working in the health department till further orders. The civil surgeons and hospital officials of all the districts across Haryana have been asked to remain present at their current places of posting and shall not leave the district headquarters.

Schools in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi have been shut down.
