Airports Closed In India: The Civil Aviation Ministry ordered the closure of 24 airports across India as Pakistan launched a drone attack on several Indian cities on Thursday evening. All the airports in the country have also been advised to remain on high alert and deploy enhanced security measures. The border states of Jammu, Punjab, Gujarat and Rajasthan faced an unprecedented attack by Pakistan yesterday. The Indian Army however successfully thwarted the drone strike and intercepted over 50 loitering munitions fired by the neighbouring country. Earlier on May 7, the Indian Army launched 'Operation Sindoor' to target terror facilities of JeM and LeT in Pakistani territory, killing at least 100 terrorists. Responding to the operation, Pakistan sent a swarm of drones which covered Indian skies over Jammu, Samba, Satwari, Udhampur, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Bikaner and Jaisalmer. The missile strikes by Pakistan triggered emergency protocols such as blackouts and air raid sirens in several cities.
As all the airports are on high alert, passengers may have to go through a Secondary Ladder Point Check (SLPC) or pre-boarding inspections. Vehicles will be carefully examined at all airport terminals. The people will be asked to produce their IDs before being allowed in the airport premises, and passenger luggage may be scrutinised at random.

Delhi Airport Remains Operational
Despite the tensions, the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi remains operational. At 12:18 AM on May 9, Delhi Airport released a fresh advisory stating, "Delhi Airport operations remain normal. Some flights are impacted due to changing airspace conditions and heightened security. Please check with your airline for the latest updates. We urge everyone to rely only on official sources and avoid sharing unverified information."
Airlines such as Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet have asked passengers to reach airports well in advance to allow sufficient time for security checks.
The situation escalated after Indian defence forces intercepted a suspected drone and missile intrusion over Jammu, with subsequent reports of explosions in Punjab, sensitive regions of Rajasthan and multiple areas along the western border, according to military sources quoted by PTI.
