Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit the tense regions of Rajouiri and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir on December 27 following the recent terror attack on an army vehicle that claimed the lives of four soldiers. He will review the security situation on the ground along with the officials.

The defence minister will reportedly hold meetings with top security officials regarding the measures being taken to deal with the situation. This comes days after heavily armed terrorists ambushed two Army trucks at a blind curve at Dhatyar Morh between Dhera Ki Gali and Bufliaz, resulting in the deaths of soldiers.

Meanwhile, security forces are still searching for the terrorists who were responsible for the ambush. Over 30 suspects have been questioned over the last few days and have been released. While the three civilians who were picked by Army for questioning the terrorist ambushed two Army vehicles were found dead on December 23.

The three men identified as Safeer Hussain (43), Mohammad Showket (27) and Shabir Ahmad (32), were found dead under suspicious circumstances near the site of an ambush by terrorists on Army vehicles in Poonch.

Following this, the Army ordered a thorough investigation into the civilian's death and emphasised that it is committed to extending full support and cooperation in the conduct of the investigation.

Earlier on Monday, Army Chief General Manoj Pande visited Poonch and assessed the ground situation amid security forces’ ongoing operation to find terrorists that left four soldiers dead in the region last week. He advised the commanders to conduct the operations in the most professional manner.

Meanwhile, mobile internet services remained suspended in both Rajouri and Poonch districts to prevent rumour-mongering and stop anyone from creating any law and order problem.
