J-K Weather Update: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar said that a major shift in the current weather pattern is anticipated in Jammu and Kashmir starting today, providing respite from the ongoing period of extreme heat and dry conditions.

According to Director MeT Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, the weather on May 24 is expected to stay mostly overcast with sporadic, short bursts of rain and thunder in various parts of the Kashmir division and a few locations in the Jammu division. Strong winds and heavy rains may also be experienced in certain locations.

It is expected that the weather will be hot and dry from May 25 to 26. On the other hand, isolated locations may get a brief period of light rain, mostly in the late afternoon.

Short bursts of rain or thunderstorms are expected in several locations around the Union Territory between May 27 and May 31. Strong rains and strong gusts may accompany some of these occurrences.

A break from the current heatwave is anticipated, with maximum temperatures projected to decrease by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius at multiple locations beginning today, according to the alert released by the MeT Centre Srinagar.

The statement also notes that during the next two days, there may be thunder and strong gusts in a few places.

It has been recommended that residents be informed of weather forecasts and be ready for brief weather disruptions. For the region, which has been suffering from protracted dry and heat weather, the forecast is a good development.
