Delhi Weather: Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) are likely to get relief from rising temperatures over the weekend, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rain, thunderstorms and strong winds. The weather office has said that the sky will remain partly cloudy on Saturday, with chances of thunder, lightning and light rain.

According to the IMD, Delhi will see a maximum temperature of around 37 degrees Celsius on Saturday, while the minimum is expected to stay near 26 degrees Celsius. These weather changes are likely to bring temporary relief from the heat, especially during the early part of the weekend.

Delhi Weather: Yellow Alert Warning For Dust Storm

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for Saturday, warning of a strong dust storm with wind speeds between 40 to 50 km/h. In some areas, gusts could reach up to 60 km/h. After this spell, dry weather is expected to return for a short period, followed by another round of rain and storms forecast for May 27.

So far, the city has experienced a mix of sunshine and light showers this week. On Friday, the sky remained mostly clear, and the sun became stronger as the day progressed. As a result, the temperature rose compared to the previous day. The maximum temperature was recorded at 37.1 degrees Celsius — 3.1 degrees below the normal for this time of year — while the minimum was 26.4 degrees Celsius, just slightly below average. Humidity levels ranged from 78 per cent to 49 per cent throughout the day.

Delhi Temperature

Looking ahead, the IMD expects Delhi’s temperature to climb gradually. Between May 22 and May 28, maximum temperatures may rise to 40 degrees Celsius on May 26 and again on May 28. The minimum temperature could increase from 21 degrees Celsius to 29 degrees Celsius during the same period.

After the rain and storms expected on May 27, a small drop in daytime temperatures is likely. The forecast suggests partly cloudy skies and similar conditions may continue in Delhi till May 29.

Earlier in the week, a thunderstorm and light rainfall helped bring down temperatures, providing brief respite from the summer heat.
