AIIMS Darbhanga Update: The work for the Darbhanga campus of the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) has already begun, as the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is likely to be submitted within 2 months. The government has entrusted IIT Delhi with the task of preparing the DPR for AIIMS Darbhanga. The development has come to light in a recent high-level meeting between state officials and representatives of the Central Government, Jagran.com reported.
According to General Manager Project Subhash Sharma, a representative of the Central Government's construction agency HSCC (India), the land has been marked for AIIMS Darbhanga, and pillars are being erected to mark the boundaries. The next step will be boundary work, for which tenders have already been received.
The Principal Secretary of the Water Resources Department, who was present at the meeting, recommended constructing a ring dam around the acquired land to protect the AIIMS site from floodwaters and waterlogging, the report added.
With IIT Delhi being part of the project, AIIMS Delhi is poised to move forward with a foolproof strategy and plan.
Subhash Sharma stated that the land allocated for the construction of Darbhanga AIIMS requires approximately 5 meters of soil filling. The state government representative informed him that Rs 309.29 crore has been sanctioned for the soil filling work.
The Water Resources Department has agreed to provide a no-objection certificate to utilise the silt from nearby rivers for the filling work.
In addition to these developments, the meeting discussed the establishment of a grid station and power substation for AIIMS Darbhanga. The estimated cost for the power substation is around Rs 11.67 crore, while the grid station is expected to cost approximately Rs 347 crore.
The Road Construction Department informed that a four-lane bypass is being constructed in Sobhan to improve connectivity. Furthermore, a pump house will be set up to ensure a water supply to the AIIMS site.
