Jamtara Train Accident News Update: Two people lost their lives while many sustained injuries after they were crushed by a train near Jharkhand's Jamtara on Wednesday evening. According to preliminary reports, the incident took place near Kaljhariya in Jamtara-Karmatand.
Railway administration, railway police and local administration have reached the spot. Officials are actively working to admit the injured persons to hospitals, reported Dainik Jagran.
How accident took place?
The unfortunate incident unfolded when passengers jumped out of the Bhagalpur bound Anga Express upon receiving information about a fire on the train. As soon as they jumped on the tracks, they were run over by an EMU passenger train, reported Dainik Jagran.

"A train ran over the passengers at Kala Jharia railway station in Jamtara. Some deaths have been reported. The exact number of deaths will be confirmed later. Medical teams and ambulances rushed to the spot," said Jamtara Deputy Commissioner as quoted by ANI.
"Near the Kalajharia railway crossing, the train stopped and some passengers got off and were run over by another local train. Information was received that some people have died. RPF and the district police are conducting a search operation and two bodies have been recovered so far... The reason for the incident is yet to be determined," said Jamtara SDM Anant Kumar on Jamtara train accident.
Mowed Bodies found scattered on the track
After the accident, the bodies of the deceased were found scattered here and there on the railway track. Belongings of the passengers who came under the impact of the train, including shoes and sandals, were strewn across the track.
Police trying to identify the deceased
Efforts are underway to identify those who lost their lives in the accident. So far, the identification of two deceased persons has been ascertained. One is identified as Manish Kumar, whose Aadhar card was found on the railway track. Manish Kumar's father, Tej Narayan Mandal, is reported to be a resident of Sasaram Bhangaha Katihar in Bihar. The second individual is identified as Sikandar Kumar, son of Adikala Yadav, a resident of Dhapari Jhajha Jamui.
Jharkhand CM expresses grief
The Chief Minister of State, Champai Soren expressed condolences over the accident. He also apprised about the relief and rescue efforts in a post on X.
"My Heart is saddened by the sad news of a train accident near Kaljharia station of Jamtara. May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this difficult time of grief. The administration team is engaged in relief and rescue work on the spot. I wish a speedy recovery to those injured in the accident," the CM said.
