Jharkhand Weather Update: IMD Issues Rain Alert For THESE Districts Till September 20; Check Forecast

The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across Jharkhand for four days starting September 17. An alert has been issued for isolated thunderstorms and lightning in 24 districts of the state, including Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Gooda Pakur and Sahibganj, for September 17.

"Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds reaching up to 40 kmph is likely across the state from September 17-20," the IMD said in a bulletin.

An alert has also been sounded across the state from September 18-20 for isolated thunder and lightning. "No significant change is likely in the maximum temperatures over the next five days," it said. In the past 24 hours, Jama in Dumka district received the highest rainfall at 65 mm.

"We have issued an ''orange'' alert (be prepared) for isolated thunderstorm and lightning in 18 districts, and a ''yellow'' alert (be updated) in the remaining six northeastern districts for September 17. The wind speed will be up to 30-40 kmph," IMD Ranchi Deputy Director Abhishek Anand said.

Apart from this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several states are likely to witness heavy rain, along with gusty winds and thunderstorms in the coming days. As per the weather department, heavy rainfall is expected in at least 15 states across the country. The western and central states will continue to receive heavy downpour, the IMD added. The residents have been advised to follow the guidelines and plan their days accordingly to avoid any inconveniences.

While providing details, the weather department stated that heavy rainfall is likely in several states, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. It further stated that moderate rainfall is expected in other regions such as West Bengal, Sikkim, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Kerala, and Lakshadweep.

Apart from this, scattered rain is also possible over Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. The continuous rainfall is likely to cause waterlogging in the lower regions, leading to inconveniences to the residents.
