THE JAPANESE woman who was harassed by a group of men on Holi took to Twitter on Saturday and reacted to the incident calling it "unfortunate".
"I had heard that it was very dangerous for a woman to go out alone during the daytime at the Holi festival, an Indian festival that I participated in, so I participated in the event with a total of 35 other friends," she said.
The woman also expressed her love for India and further wrote, "I love everything about India, I have been there many times and it is a fascinating country. India and Japan will forever be 'Tomodachi' (friends)."
Earlier on Thursday, the woman had tweeted a video of the incident. However, she removed it soon after. Speaking about the same, she stated that she "was terrified" by the reactions to the video so she "deleted the tweet".
"On March 9, I tweeted a video of Holi, but after that, the number of RTs and DMs increased more than I had imagined, and I was terrified, so I deleted the tweet," she tweeted in Japanese.
"The police have promised to strengthen their crackdown, and we hope harassment against women will decrease significantly," the woman said.
The video shows a few men playing holi with a foreign girl who seems 'uncomfortable' with their actions.
Taking cognizance of the viral video, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal on Saturday said the DCW issued a notice to the Delhi Police to probe the videos and nab the perpetrators.

"A video went viral on the internet where some men were applying Holi colours to a Japanese woman, she was feeling harassed, molested and screaming for help. Those men did not stop. We are issuing a notice to Delhi Police. Those men should be identified and put behind jail," said Maliwal.
The Delhi Police has launched an investigation after a video on social media showing a group of men allegedly harassing and groping a Japanese woman on Holi went viral, officials said on Friday.
According to the police, no complaint or call relating to any kind of misbehaviour with any foreigner has been received in Paharganj Police Station. However, the boys seen in the video have been identified after meticulous efforts through field officers and local intelligence.
"Three boys including one juvenile have been apprehended and enquired. They have confessed/admitted about the incident/happening seen in the video. They all are residents of the nearby area of Pahar Ganj and went that way in the enjoyment of Holi," the official said.
