Crypto Fraud Case: A search warrant has been issued against famous hairstylist Jawed Habib and his son Anos Habib in connection with an alleged crypto fraud case. A team of Sambhal police, led by sub-inspector Pavitra Parmar, searched Habib’s Delhi residence, located in New Friends Colony, on Thursday. However, the hairstylist was not present there at the time of the raid.

Jawed Habib’s brother, Amjad, informed the police that the hairstylist no longer lived at the address. Superintendent of Police (Sambhal) Krishan Bishnoi said that Habib is evading interrogation and has been absconding since the matter came to light. Bishnoi added that the police will now search Habib’s residence in Mumbai.

Earlier, Jawed Habib was summoned for questioning on October 12, but his lawyer appeared in front of the court, stating that Jawed was suffering from ill health due to which he was unable to come to the court.

What Is The Case Against Jawed Habib?

Jawed Habib has been accused of embezzling crores from the people in the name of investing in cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Binance coins, under the banner of Follicle Global Company (FLC). The company had promised the investors 50-75 per cent profits in return.

According to police officials, a total of 33 FIRs have been lodged against Jawed Habib, his son, Anos, and the company’s local head, Saifullah. Officials estimate that around 150 people have invested in Habib’s scheme, with the total amount accruing to nearly Rs 7 crore.

The alleged scam started when the accused organised a promotional event for the company at the Royal Palace Venkat Hall in Sambhal. At the event, the father-son duo urged the attendees to invest an amount between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 7 lakh, promising them good returns. However, the investors did not receive any money in return and approached the police. 

If the defrauded amount is not recovered, the police are also prepared to ready to seize the personal assets of the owner to recover the amount.
