JD Vance Jaipur Visit: United States Vice President JD Vance, who is in India on a four-day official visit, landed in Jaipur on Tuesday along with his wife, Usha Vance, and three children, Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel. The Vance family also visited the iconic Amber Fort, where they received a grand Rajasthani welcome.

The family, accommodated at the opulent Rambagh Palace, went to the Amber Fort for a morning cultural tour. On reaching there, they were greeted with folk dance performances and traditionally decorated elephants Chanda and Pushpa, trained at Hathi Gaon, close to the fort. The UNESCO World Heritage Site fort was closed to tourists for 24 hours to enable security arrangements.

Amber Fort Visit Highlights Indo-US Cultural Bond

The Amber Fort, a 16th-century palace of pale yellow sandstone and white marble, was the setting of this cultural encounter. A senior official remarked that the elephants, a part of the ceremonial welcome, were specially trained to welcome dignitaries. Previously, in New Delhi, the Vance family toured the Central Cottage Industries Emporium. They also toured the Akshardham Temple, where the children wore kurta-pyjamas and an Anarkali-type dress. VP Vance spent some time in prayer, allegedly for world peace.

Security Airtight in Jaipur; Vance to Give Keynote Address at RIC

Giant security arrangements were made throughout Jaipur before the Vice President's visit. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma inspected preparations in a high-level meeting on Saturday. Vance will meet the CM and Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagade later today. Vice President is also set to give a keynote speech on India-US relations at the Rajasthan International Centre (RIC). The gathering will feature senior diplomats, policymakers, academia, and government officials.

Deeper Ties During Trump Presidency

The visit follows JD Vance having bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday. The two leaders discussed how to strengthen cooperation in sectors such as defence, energy, and technology. PM Modi hosted the Vance family for a private dinner at his 7 Lok Kalyan Marg residence. In an X post, Vice President Vance was thankful for the hospitality and called PM Modi "a great leader" and said he is eager to further boost India-US relations under President Trump's leadership. Wednesday morning, the Vance family will go to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, then back to Jaipur in the afternoon. They will visit the City Palace later in the day, another of the Pink City's famous monuments. The family leaves India in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 24.
