US Vice President JD Vance has confirmed that a final draft of the trade agreement between India and the United States has been finalized. The news was announced just before attending the Indo-US Trade Conference, marking a milestone in the strengthening of bilateral ties.
Addressing the conference before it, JD Vance spoke highly of the prospects of the US-India relationship, pointing to both countries' ability to develop in tandem. “Trump wants both India and the US to grow. India can help build a bright new world,” Vance said, pointing to the long-term possibilities of this alliance. Vance's remarks reinforce the administration's intent to establish a dynamic, two-way relationship between the two nations.
Vance Recalls Cultural Connections
Apart from trade talks, Vance also spared a moment to compliment India's rich cultural heritage. “I have been amazed by India’s heritage and tradition,” he stated, acknowledging the country's long history and its significant role in the world. His words underscore the cultural diplomacy element of the visit, seeking to build people-to-people ties in addition to economic relations.
Commitment To Fair Trade And Shared Interests
During his speech, Vance reiterated the approach of the US administration towards foreign trade. “Our administration seeks trade partners based on fairness and shared national interests,” he asserted, reiterating the need for fair trade agreements that work in the interest of both nations.
Vance also highlighted the historical significance of this alliance, pointing to the significance of engaging with countries that appreciate the value of this moment in history. “We want to partner with people in countries who recognize the historic nature of the moment,” Vance added.

Highlighting Heritage In Trade Deals
Vance also spoke at length about the importance of cultural heritage in framing global relations. “Like you, we want to appreciate our history, our culture, our religion,” he said. “We want to do commerce and strike good deals with our friends.” He added that close ties are formed by respecting each other's heritage and history, and not fear or self-doubt. His remarks portrayed a larger philosophy espoused by the Trump administration, one that places a premium on historical recognition abroad and domestically.
MP Praveen Khandelwal: "A Timely Visit To Strengthen US-India Ties"
MP Praveen Khandelwal, while addressing the importance of the visit, stated that it came at the right time considering trade challenges across the world. Khandelwal stated that apart from strengthening the trade relationship, the visit would also serve to popularize Indian culture and heritage in the US.
Khandelwal also voiced optimism that negotiations would touch on the current issues of trade tariffs, with India's interests taken into consideration as well as a strengthening of economic ties between the two countries.
With cultural exchange and fair trade in the forefront, Vance's visit is a positive move toward a brighter and more intertwined future of US-India relations. The negotiations in Jaipur will probably set the tone for future deals, incrementally upon the mutual respect and understanding that have defined the relationship between the two nations.
