Anil Tiger, also known as Anil Mahato, was shot dead near Kanke Chowk on Wednesday by an unidentified assailant on a motorcycle. The attacker fired at him from the front before fleeing. Mahato was rushed to RIMS hospital for emergency treatment but succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, Devendra Nath Mahato, a student leader and senior vice president of JLAKEM, visited RIMS to meet the victim’s family and assess the situation. Sheetal Ohdar, a leader of the Kudmi/Kurmi community, announced a state-wide bandh today. He stated that the shutdown would be in effect for 24 hours from 6 AM, with only essential services allowed to operate. Ohdar criticised the law and order situation, attributing the rising violence to administrative failure. He demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for Tiger’s murder and sought Rs 50 lakh compensation for his family.

Shri Mahavir Mandal Ranchi Mahanagar has also backed the bandh. Its president, Kunal Ajmani, along with other office-bearers, raised concerns over the increasing criminal activities in the state capital.
