Jharkhand Polls 2024: The first phase of the Jharkhand assembly election is just around the corner and the poll campaigns by various political parties are at their peak. Political parties including BJP, Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, are trying to woo the voters with only 48 hours remaining for the campaigning. Parties have roped in the political giants to convince the voters and to win as much popular support as possible.

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is heading BJP's poll bid in the state, Congress has tapped into the popularity of Rahul Gandhi, who is holding back-to-back poll rallies across the state. While Chief Minister Hemant Soren is tirelessly campaigning to secure a JMM return, the party also found an unlikely star in his wife Kalpana - whose speeches are attracting crowds to rallies.

Polls In 3-Days

Jharkhand will go to polls in the next few days, with the first phase of the election slated for November 13 and a second phase on November 20.

In the first phase, voting for 43 seats will take place on November 13. During these three days, rallies and other programs featuring top campaigners, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi are on the calendars of poll parties.

On November 10, the Prime Minister will hold a roadshow in Ranchi from OTC Ground, Pandara, to New Market Chowk on Ratu Road. The Prime Minister also has scheduled events in Bokaro and Gumla on the same day.

RJD Chief Tejashwi Yadav Amid Star Campaigners

RJD's star campaigner and Bihar's Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, will hold rallies in Koderma and Garhwa in November. On November 10, he scheduled programs at various locations in Chatra and Palamu. Additionally, election in-charges, co-in-charges from various parties, and senior state leaders will be intensifying their campaign efforts.

Election Commission Prepares For Third Phase Of Polls

The Election Commission’s preparations are in the final stages to ensure clean, fair, and peaceful voting in the first phase constituencies. To prevent any disruptions and ensure security, comprehensive arrangements have been made.

The commission has also started the process of voting through postal ballots. A total of 260,814 applications for postal ballots have been received for the assembly elections, exceeding numbers from previous general elections. This suggests an expected increase in postal ballot voting compared to previous elections.
