Jharkhand Excise Constable Recruitment Test:  For athletes, a 10-kilometre run in sixty minutes or a 1600-metre sprint in six may be easy. However, this might prove to be a perilous task for certain job applicants, as seen in the Jharkhand excise recruitment test. The Jharkhand excise constable recruitment procedure has taken a grim turn as fatalities resulting from physical examinations were recorded. In the race to become excise constables in Jharkhand, twelve applicants have reportedly died, and over 100 have been hospitalised.

The procedure of running for the excise constable recruiting examination began on August 22, 2024. On August 28, 2024, it was reported that four candidates had died. Even after that, the recruiting examination continued.

Following many consecutive fatalities, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has postponed the recruitment exam for three days. According to the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission's (JSSC) notice for Jharkhand Excise Constable Recruitment, a total of 583 jobs will be filled, with 1,27,572 candidates having taken the physical exam so far. Furthermore, 78,023 applicants have already been pronounced successful, including 55,439 males and 21,582 females.

In Jharkhand, seven locations have been set up for the excise constable recruitment test, including Giridih, Palamu, CTC Mosabani, and Sahebganj, in addition to two examination centres in Ranchi.

The news of the candidates' deaths initially emerged from the Palamu district. Following the examination on August 27, four additional applicants died the next day. Two other aspirants from the Hazaribagh area are alleged to have died during the race.
