Jharkhand News: A 28-year-old woman from Kadma, Jamshedpur, died by suicide after streaming the act live on social media. The incident took place on Friday in the farm area under Kadma police station.
The woman, identified as Malti Devi, was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf. Her family members rushed her to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where doctors declared her brought dead.
Police said Malti Devi was alone at home when the incident took place. Her husband, Sahdev Yadav, works as a contract employee at Tata Steel and had gone to duty. The couple’s two children were at school.

In the live video, Malti accused her husband of abuse and held him responsible for her decision. She also mentioned that a dispute between them a week earlier had deeply affected her. The video was recorded on mobile and later circulated.
Relatives told police that Malti had been married to Sahdev since 2013 and the couple lived in Kadma with their two children. Her parents, who live in Khairabad village of Giridih district, rushed to the hospital after hearing the news.
Her maternal uncle, Manohar Kumar, said the family was unaware of any ongoing dispute. Malti’s in-laws are from Koderma.
Police have begun questioning Sahdev based on the video evidence. He told officers that he returned home from work to find his wife hanging and took her to the hospital immediately.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. So far, no written complaint has been filed by Malti’s maternal family. Authorities said further action will depend on the post-mortem findings and statements from relatives.
