The office of the Kashmir Times in Jammu was raided by Jammu and Kashmir’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Thursday morning. The raids took place after an FIR was filed alleging the organisations’s role in anti-national activities and attempts to spread disharmony within the country. In the raid, the SIA seized cartridges of AK rifles, some rounds of pistol and hand grenade pins, among other items, as per news agency PTI.

Kashmir Times was founded by journalist Ved Bhasin and is one of the oldest English-language news organisations in Jammu and Kashmir. The organisation now mostly operates online after it halted its print operations.

The SIA officials started raids at 6 am. The officials had contacted the newspaper’s manager, Sanjeev Kerni, for opening the office. Digital equipment and various documents were scanned by the SIA officials as part of the investigation.

Ved Bhasin’s daughter Anuradha Bhasin and her husband Prabodh Jamwal managed the operations of the newspaper after his death. Prabodh is the editor while Anuradha is the managing editor as per its website.

As per official sources quoted by The Indian Express , the FIR states alleged actions and communications that are under scrutiny for "potential threats to the sovereignty and integrity of India".

The SIA officials are likely to interrogate Anuradha in the coming days.
