K Kavitha Arrest: The judicial custody of BRS MLC K Kavitha has been extended till April 23 in a money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy scam. The Enforcement Directorate arrested her on March 15, 2024. According to ED, Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Cheif Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, conspired with top leaders of AAP inclduing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is also in ED custody, to get favour in the Excise policy case.
Speaking to media persons, the BRS leader said, "This is a case completely based on the statement. It is a political case. This is a case of targeting the opposition parties. CBI has already recorded my statement in jail."

The latest development comes days after Kavitha moved the Delhi court, urging it to retract its order permitting the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to interrogate her in Tihar jail. The CBI is investigating the corruption aspect of the excise policy case.
In an ongoing probe into the Delhi excise policy scam, the ED has arrested several AAP leaders including Kejriwal, and Manish Sisodia in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case. Sanjay Singh, another leader arrested by the probe agency team recently walked out of jail on bail. AAP leaders have alleged that the ruling BJP government is targeting opposition leaders through agencies such as ED, CBI and IT.
AAP national convener was arrested on March 21 after the high court denied him protection from coercive action by the ED. He was remanded to judicial custody till April 15.
