New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Amid the struggle to catch the history-sheeter, Vikas Dubey, involved in the killing of 8 policemen during an encounter in Kanpur, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday morning gunned down his closed aide, Amar Dubey in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur. 

News agency PTI quoted officials as saying that, Amar Dubey was also involved in the Kanpur ambush in which eight policemen lost their lives, while 7 others including a civilian were injured. He is the third member of Vikas Dubey's gang to be killed in an encounter with the police. 

"One SHO and STF constable were injured in the exchange of fire during the encounter today. An automatic weapon & a bag recovered from Amar Dubey's possession. The forensic team on their way to the encounter site, further investigation is underway", Hamirpur SP Shlok Kumar said reported by ANI. 

Another accomplice of Vikas Dubey, Shyamu Bajpai was also arrested by the Chaubeypur police on Wednesday morning after an encounter. Shyamu Bajpai was carrying a reward of Rs 25,000. 

According to sources, Amar Dubey was involved in the security of Vikas Dubey and travelled with him wherever he went. Earlier, police had killed criminals Prem Prakash Pandey and Atul Dubey in an encounter in Kanpur on Friday.

Uttar Pradesh ADG (law and order) Prashant Kumar on Tuesday said that police force will not sit quietly until it arrests Kanpur encounter main accused and history-sheeter Vikas Dubey. Prashant Kumar said that 40 teams of UP Police and Special Task Force (STF) are working on the case.

"Until and unless we arrest Vikas Dubey and his accomplices, we will not sit quietly. A total of 40 teams and STF are working. We are collecting info on Vikas Dubey's accomplices and family members. Where did they get such a huge cache of weapons? What weapons were used? Information was received that someone must have kept at home. We are working on every detail," Kumar said.

"The entire house was searched and 2 kg of an explosive substance, 6 country-made pistols, 15 crude bombs and 25 cartridges were recovered," he added

 

Meanwhile, Kanpur police also released photos of accomplices of Kanpur encounter main accused and history-sheeter Vikas Dubey. Kanpur police also conducted a raid at the residence of Jai Bajpayee, a close aide of Dubey. 

The bounty on the arrest of Dubey has been increased to Rs 2.5 lakhs. Police have put up his posters at Unnao toll plaza and in Lakhimpur district near the India-Nepal border area.

Main accused Vikas Dubey's last location was traced in Auraiya and it is suspected that he might have gone to Madhya Pradesh or Rajasthan, crossing the Uttar Pradesh border. The Uttar Pradesh Police has contacted the police of both Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Two persons have also been detained in Haryana's Faridabad in connection to the Kanpur encounter in which 8 police personnel lost their lives. Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh detained a relative of Kanpur encounter main accused history-sheeter Vikas Dubey for questioning.
