Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday irked the BJP after he reshared a post from a social media account which posted a photograph with the title "One Country, Two Laws". The image shows two photographs, one that shows a blocked road due to the Kanwar Yatra, while the other shows a policeman kicking a Muslim man who was offering Friday 'namaz' (prayer) on the roadside.

Originally posted by a Facebook page "With Congress", which claimed to be a supporting page of the Congress party and not official. Digvijaya Singh reposted the image from his official Facebook handle and flagged the administrative bias, with the caption "Ek Desh, Do Kanoon?" ("One Country, Two Laws?").

In the image, the background of the Kanwar Yatra has a saffron background, while the portion of the photograph showing Muslims offering namaz has a green background, and a policeman is kicking one of the Muslims offering namaz on the roadside.

The photograph showing Muslims offering namaz is from New Delhi, as the background (signboard showing direction on the road) also mentions Tis Hazari, while the location of the image with Kanwar Yatra could not be verified.

The BJP, meanwhile, was quick to respond with Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishvas Sarang calling Digvijaya Singh a "maulana" and accusing him of being anti-Hindu. Sarang alleged that Singh often questioned Hindu religion and festivals and said that he was the originator of the word "Hindu Aatankwad".

"Digvijaya Singh is one who has always targeted Hindu religion and festivals. He has shown his affection for Pakistan and a particular community, which is why he is known as Maulana Digvijaya Singh," Sarang said.

"Insulting Sanatan and devotees of Sanatan is Digvijay Singh's habit because he progresses by pursuing the politics of appeasement. Who has always worked to defame Hindus in this country? Digvijay Singh has done it," Sarang further said.

The BJP leader also said that Digvijaya Singh has disrespected the holy Kanwar Yatra, and he should apologise for his controversial social media post. "But we don't expect anything else from him because he always behaves like Maulana Digvijay Singh, sometimes talking about protecting terrorists, sometimes insulting Hindu gods and goddesses. This is his habit. But this will no longer work in India," he added.

In several Indian states, including Haryana (Gurugram), Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, police have taken stringent action against individuals offering Friday namaz on roads, citing concerns over traffic obstruction and public order. In many instances, FIRs have been registered, and worshippers have been asked to adhere to the designated places of worship.

However, a contrasting approach is evident during the Kanwar Yatra, where large-scale road blockades, loud religious processions and public displays of devotion are not only tolerated but often facilitated by the police. In some cases, law enforcement officials are seen managing traffic, showering flowers on devotees and even providing logistical support.
