The probe agency will record their statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to understand the payment flow made by the app promoters. Actor Ranbir Kapoor, who did several commercials to promote the app, was also summoned on Wednesday. A total of 100 online betting apps are on the ED's radar.
The Mahadev Online App has been in the middle of a row since February this year following a lavish Rs 200 crore wedding that saw celebrity performances in UAE.
Sourabh Chandrakar, the main accused in the betting app scam, reportedly involved an event management company to pay the celebrities who attended his Dubai wedding.
According to the probe agency, Chandrakar hired a private jet to fly family members from Nagpur to the UAE for his wedding held in Ras Al-Khaimah. He also paid celebrities from the film industry to perform at his wedding, the ED said. As per the details divulged by the probe agency earlier, wedding planners and dancers were flown to Dubai for the wedding and payments to them were made through hawala channels.
