Atul Subhash Case: G Parmeshwara, Karnataka Home Minister on Sunday reacted to the hyped suicide case of techie Atul Subhash, in which the deceased accused his wife and her relatives of harassment. Parmeshwara stated that this case has opened up a debate about men's rights in the whole country. 

He said that this case has suddenly exposed men's rights, as we always talk about women's rights, and it has exposed how weak the men's rights system is working. “It's a suicide and you know it has opened up a new discussion throughout the country. Because we always talked about women's rights. Now suddenly, this particular case has exposed men's rights, how weak the men's rights system is working. It's a debate throughout the country and let's see where it will end,” Parmeshwara was quoted as saying by PTI.

He further pointed out the two points of the investigation in the case. He said that the first point of the case was why he committed suicide and how his wife kept on filing so many cases against him. The Karnataka home minister further said that the second point was about the debate around men's rights. He also assured that the Karnataka police is investigating why the suicide happened.

“As far as the Karnataka Police is concerned, they are investigating why the suicide happened. They have already arrested his wife and mother in law,” Parmeshwara added.

Atul Subhash, an engineer from Bengaluru, died by suicide last week in his apartment. He left behind a 24-page suicide note and a video of more than an hour in which he accused his wife and her relatives of harassment.

He stated that he was taking this extreme step because of the continuous pressure from his wife. He also questioned the justice system of the country and alleged that a judge had demanded Rs 5 lakh to "settle" the case.
