In a tragic case from Karnataka, the man accused of kidnapping and murdering a 5-year-old girl was killed in a police encounter on Sunday. The accused, 35-year-old Ritesh Kumar from Bihar, allegedly tried to escape police custody when the encounter took place.
The incident occurred under the Ashok Nagar police station limits in Hubballi. Three police officers sustained injuries during the attempt to catch the accused.

According to the Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar, the young girl had accompanied her mother, who works as a housemaid and part-time beauty parlour assistant, to her workplace. The child reportedly went missing from the area, and after a search, her body was found in the bathroom of an abandoned building just across the street from the house where her mother was working.

The little girl was rushed to a hospital immediately but was declared brought dead. So far, the police have not confirmed any details regarding sexual assault, as a medical examination and further investigation are still ongoing.
The victim’s family belongs to the Koppal district, and the heartbreaking incident has left the community in shock. Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation is being carried out and justice will be served.
