Karnataka Man Arrested For Raping Minor Sister, Blackmailing Her With Suicide

In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old man has been arrested from Koppal, Karnataka for raping his minor sister, forcing her into a physical relationship by threatening to commit suicide if she did not agree to his proposal. The incident came to light after the girl delivered a child at a district government hospital on October 30, that’s when the incident came to light.

According to NDTV, the incestuous relationship began in February when the brother told the victim that he would marry her and take care of her if she had a sexual relationship with him. The girl refused the proposal, citing societal norms. But the brother forced her to accept the proposal, threatening to commit suicide and blackmailing her into having sex with him.

On October 26, the girl slipped in the bathroom and hurt her hip. The accused took her to a private hospital, where doctors diagnosed a back injury and advised an immediate scan. She was later taken to the Koppal District Hospital on October 30, where tests revealed that she was pregnant. The girl told doctors she had been unaware of her pregnancy until that moment.

The police also said that the girl’s father married for a second time and he lived with his daughter and two sons.

As she is a minor, the doctors informed the police, who conducted an inquiry and unravelled a case of incest. The brother was booked under section 64(2)(m) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The accused has been arrested by the police and sent to judicial custody.
