Lok Sabha Elections 2024: In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old man from Karnataka's Karwar chopped off one of his fingers and offered it to Goddess Kali as a sacrifice for the win of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2024. The incident which took place on Saturday, startled the locals as well as the Bharatiya Janata Party leader who appealed to the residents not to take such steps. The man has been identified as Arun Vernekar of Sonarwada in Karwar.
After the incident, Arun said that he prayed to Kali Mata for his leader Narendra Modi to win in the upcoming elections.
“I prayed to Kali Matha for Modi’s re-election as PM, and as an offering, I offered my index finger to the goddess. Modi is my leader," he said.

“MODI has resolved many issues faced by the country. Our country received global recognition because of him. Like many others, I want Modi to win the LS elections. I just want him to be in power to ensure the nation’s security,” Vernekar further added as quoted by the New Indian Express.
Vernekar, who previously worked in the Mumbai film industry, recently returned to Karwar to take care of his mother.
BJP Calls Act "Madness"
However, local party leaders of the BJP discarded the step taken by Arun as "shocking" while asking Modi fans to refrain from such acts.
“This is madness. Instead of doing such things, he must tell people about Modi’s achievements. Even Modi will be happy,” said Jagadish Naik, a BJP worker from Karwar.
“This is shocking. I appeal to youngsters not to indulge in such acts. We all want Modi to win. You can show your love for Modi in a manner that is appreciated by others. But not this way,” Nanda Kishore, a local BJP leader, said.
