Karnataka Education Minister and Congress leader Madhu Bangarappa got furious after a student questioned his Kannada speaking talents during a video conference. The event, intended to introduce a state government project providing free online coaching to 2,500 CET, JEE, and NEET students, took an unexpected turn when the student's statement appeared to refer to ongoing criticism of Bangarappa's inadequate Kannada speaking skills.
As the program came to an end, he lost his cool over the remark, which appeared to be a reference to the opposition parties' frequent criticism of Bangarappa for his limited Kannada speaking abilities. The Congress leader ultimately took action against the student.
As the conference was drawing to a close, a student remarked, “He doesn’t know Kannada”. Initially, Bangarappa responded calmly, saying, “Am I speaking in Urdu? Turn on the TV and see.” However, as the comment lingered, the Minister’s patience wore thin and he ordered that action be taken against the student.

Who are the teachers? This needs to be taken seriously." He directed senior education authorities, including Ritesh Kumar, Principal Secretary for School Education, and Sindhu Roopesh, Director of the PU Department, who were present at the ceremony, to handle the situation.

The incident has sparked a debate, with opposition parties voicing strong disapproval of the Minister’s actions.
Union Minister and BJP leader Pralhad Joshi took to social media, questioning Bangarappa’s reaction: “Hadn’t Madhu Bangarappa publicly admitted that he doesn’t know Kannada?? Why is the INC Karnataka punishing the student who reminded him of this? What are they trying to achieve here?? What else can be expected from the hopeless Congress??”
