Karnataka Power Tussle: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today visited Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar's residence for breakfast, just two days after Shivakumar was the guest at the Chief Minister’s residence. The back-to-back meetings are viewed as part of an effort to ease the tensions between the two senior leaders regarding the Chief Minister's post.

According to News18 sources, no major breakthrough is anticipated from today's breakfast meeting between CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM Shivakumar, and it is largely speculated as a courtesy visit.

"Today, DK Shivakumar invited me for breakfast. I agreed to come. Today, both of us had breakfast, and DK Suresh was also present... After breakfast, we discussed the assembly session... It was decided that we should call a meeting of the MPs on December 8," CM told reporters. 

Today’s breakfast meeting follows the earlier meeting held at CM Siddaramaiah's residence on Saturday. The first round of interaction was mandated by the Congress high command with the goal of diffusing ongoing tensions between the two senior state leaders concerning the Chief Minister's post, News18 report added.

"Both of us will accept the reason taken by the high command, especially Rahul, Sonia, Priyanka and Mallikarjun Kharge... If they (the party high command) call us (to Delhi), we will definitely go. Tomorrow I am meeting KC Venugopal at a function where both of us are invited...." news agency PTI quoted Siddaramaiah as saying.

Following their initial breakfast meeting on Saturday, CM and Deputy CM Shivakumar jointly addressed a press conference in Bengaluru. The chief minister stated the two had breakfast, adding that no political issues were discussed. He attributed the confusion and speculation to media reports, reiterating that the final determination on the leadership issue would be made by the Congress high command.

"The breakfast was good. We didn't talk about anything there. We just had breakfast. DKS came to our house today...DKS invited me to his house. We have decided that we will follow whatever the high command says. There will be no confusion from tomorrow. There is still no confusion. Some media reporters have created the confusion," CM Siddaramaiah said.

Deputy CM Shivakumar also stated there was no faction within the party, adding that both leaders were working collectively with the shared objective of focusing on the development of the state.
