Karnataka Politics: Amid an ongoing power tussle in Karnataka, the Congress top brass has reportedly proposed a formula to the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy, DK Shivakumar. The top leadership, after analysing the situation, has decided that while Siddaramaiah will continue to hold the top post, Shivakumar's loyalists are set to get key portfolios. Apart from this, the leadership has also decided that the 2028 Assembly election will be contested under the leadership of Shivakumar, ensuring a smooth power transition. The leadership has also asked both the top leaders to resolve the issue and not to discuss the issue in public.

Karnataka: Siddaramaiah To Remain CM

The Congress top leadership has decided that Siddaramaiah will continue to be the chief minister; however, Shivakumar's tenure as the state party chief has also been extended, reported NDTV. As per the reports, the top brass stated that a sudden change in the leadership will affect the party's reputation.

However, the party has praised Shivakumar for his patience and has decided that the upcoming state assembly election will be contested under his leadership. Apart from this, some of Shivakumar's loyalists are also likely to get key portfolios during the cabinet expansion.

Did 'Breakfast Diplomacy' Help?

Earlier on Saturday, Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar met over breakfast to resolve the ongoing situation at the chief minister's residence. While addressing the reporters, Siddaramaiah asserted that they did not discuss politics during the breakfast, adding that the final decision on the issue will be taken by the high command.

"We have decided that we will follow whatever the high command says. There will be no confusion from tomorrow. There is still no confusion. Some media reporters have created the confusion," the chief minister stated. Shivakumar also stated that there was no faction in the party, adding that they were working collectively for the development of the state.
